THE GODZILLA - NISSAN GT-R

NISSAN GT-R

Nissan GT-R

This is not a normal Supercar, this is the Nissan GT-R. With a boxy design and a practical 4-seat layout, this car sets another example in supercar history. It competes with the likes of Ferrari, Lamborghini and Porsche being the least expensive of them all – only nearly half the price of them!. Unlike most supercars, the GT-R is not hand built. It is mass produced on a production line. Having a very boxy design, the GT-R is one of the most aerodynamic car on earth, it’s purely spectacular. Usually, supercars are sleek, curved and streamlined, but GT-R is totally oppsosite. It’s square, blunt and angular. It has a carbon fibre rear mounted wing. This angular design takes much of it’s inspiration from another Japanese creation, the Gundam Robots. It’s exterior design makes great use of air flow to increase it’s aerodynamics. The GT-R has a drag coefficient of only 0.26, one of the lowest of production cars today. Conventional methods state that the lower the weight of the car, the faster it is. The GT-R throws that away. For a 1700 kg weighed car, the GT-R is pretty quick. It is because it makes good use of weight distribution. This also allows GT-R to cut corners quickly.

PERFORMANCE

Unlike itself, GT-R’s engine is not mass produced. It is hand-built by a team of 13 professionals. It runs on a 3.8 L VR38DETT twin-turbo V6, which is the largest engine produced by Nissan. It produces a massive power of 545 bhp. It has a permanent four-wheel drive. The   6-speed manual sequential dual clutch transmission on the GT-R is a state of art. It’s the world’s first independent rear mounted dual clutch transmission. GT-R reaches from 0-100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds – only 0.3 seconds later than the hypercar Bugatti Veyron. It has a top speed of 315 kmph. The GT-R’s trans-axle suspension monitors the weight distribution across the car. Every second, on board computer systems adjust the suspension. Kazunori Yamauchi, founder of the famous Polyphony digital which creates famous game series Gran Turismo, created the computer system on the GT-R’s dash. The on board dash display gives every detail about GT-R’s performance. The multi function display yamauchi created gives every detailed information about driver’s and car’s performance.

GT-R SPEC-V

Nissan introduced the GT-R SpecV on January 7, 2009 at the 2009 Tokyo Auto Salon. This version uses carbon fiber trim inside and out, and has no rear seat. The GT-R SpecV is powered by the standard twin-turbo 3.8-litre V6 with no increase in horsepower. A new high gear boost controller that allows a temporary increase in boost pressure to the IHI twin turbochargers, now larger than those on the standard GT-R, should deliver more torque in mid to high-range revs. Other mechanical changes include a titanium exhaust, reworked suspension, carbon ceramic brakes, and 20-inch (510 mm) Nismo wheels. Overall weight is decreased by 60 kg over the standard GT-R.

GT-R NISMO

Nissan introduced a NISMO Edition GT-R for model year 2015. The new model has increased power of 591 bhp. Top speed remains the same at 315 kmph and the gear ratios do not change in the DCT transmission. Additional front and rear brake cooling ducts are added, and a full NISMO tuned suspension is installed, including a hollow 17.3mm rear stabilizer bar from the NISMO performance division. Special edition forged alloys by RAYS in 20" size are included. The standard GTR's aluminum trunk lid is swapped out for a full carbon fiber panel, and additional spot welds and adhesive help strengthen the chassis. A front spoiler with carbon fiber air ducts up front add to the special NISMO full aerodynamic package, while a large racing style carbon wing finishes off the rear. These changes reduce weight, which is the reason why it accelerates even faster than before.
