Gumpert Apollo

Apollo is a 2-seater mid-engined Supercar made by Gumpert between 2005 to 2012. Only 60 Apollos were ever made. This supercar is completely hand built by 45 skilled personal in Gumpert’s small factory in Altenburg, Germany. Gumpert was a very small company so they cannot afford to make parts on their own. Parts for making Apollo is brought from 60 suppliers worldwide. The Apollo is mainly focused on     downforce to give it a great grip on the road. Also, the car is made very light to give it a brutal acceleration – it weighs only 1200 kgs. Apollo set third fastest lap time record in Nurburgring’s Nordschleife track in 2009. But with time everything changes. The record was broken in 2013 when several new supercars arrived. There is a faster and lighter version of Apollo called Apollo Enraged. Enraged, like many supercars is made from carbon fibre to make it more light. Both Apollo and Apollo Engraged use an highly tuned Audi V8 made by HSB.


PERFORMACE

The Apollo uses a 4163 cc bi-turbo intercooled version of the Audi V8 engine. This engine produces 641 bhp for Apollo. The power is delivered through a sequiencial &-speed manual transmission. Apollo is capable of reaching from 0-100 kmph in 3.1 seconds. The Top speed reached by Apollo is 360 kmph. The double-flow exhaust system on Apollo has four oxygen sensors to monitor the gas mixture, and a 3-way catalytic converter. Modern controls include an on-board diagnostic system, eight-coil electronic ignition, sequential multipoint fuel injection, and an electronic (drive by wire) accelerator system.


APOLLO ENRAGED

Enraged is a race version of Apollo. It is lighter and faster than standard Apollo. It weighs only 1100 kg and it also features a highly tuned version of Audi V8 with bi-turbochargers. It produces a maximum power of 789 bhp. Unlike Apollo, it has semi-automatic gearbox. It reaches 0-100 kmph in just 2.9 seconds and tops at 330 kmph. It further featured an F1 style air- intake and black alloy wheels. It costs around US$ 1,000,000 – whoa!.


Gumpert Apollo Enraged

Although, the company Gumpert does not Exist now as it went bankcrupt in 2013. In January 2016, the company was purchased by Hong Kong consortium Ideal Team Venture, also owner of the De Tomaso marque, and Gumpert was renamed “ Apollo Automobil GmbH”.
